As the design lead I helped trace design an Ai supported camera with a dual lens set up to records kids soccer games. Building the camera from the ground up I focused on an intuitive user experience approach making complex technology user friendly.

How it works: Trace seamlessly identifies, follows and spotlights each player during the game and automatically delivers a playlist of highlights with your player. Trace player focus is the easiest and most affordable way to record your child’s soccer games and get their highlights delivered automatically.

Staying focused on the game while the camera does the job

Unlocking the untapped potential of an intuitive camera system, designed to let coaches and parents stay immersed in the game’s most meaningful moments, was at the heart of this design project.

What we learned from current use case scenarios

The system includes a camera, an external battery, GPS trackers worn by each player, and a 30-foot retractable tripod.
Considering each step of the cameras set up process, we focused on making the camera as intuitive to handle as possible.

Creating concepts

Developing an iconic design language while exploring various internal architecture configurations.

The value of cross functional collaboration

Key was to collaborate closely with mechanical and optical engineering leads to turn the chosen concept into a functional, production-ready product.

Design refinement

Optimizing the outer enclosure dimensions and flow of surfaces while maintaining the product's ergonomic integrity.

Designing a product that offers an ergonomic, intuitive feel during the mounting process was important. The extruded racetrack shape does just this, enhancing both functionality and user experience.
